A number of basic terms and concepts are explained here which are used in the AllSync documentation:
Actions
Actions refer to copying, deleting or filtering files or folders.
The actions are indicated in the
report via various
icons.
AllSync Scheduler
AllSync Scheduler enables you to automatically run
profiles by
scheduling them.
AllSync Service Tool
The
AllSync Service Tool enables you to install
AllSync Scheduler as a Windows service.
Dragging & Dropping
This is done as follows:
Left-click on an object (place the mouse cursor on the object followed by pressing the left mouse button) and keep the mouse button pressed.
Next drag the object onto another object, followed by releasing the mouse button.
Context Menu
The context menu offers actions in keeping with the respective object and can be accessed by right-clicking the object (clicking on it using the right mouse button).
Copy Mode
The
copy mode determines in which direction the folders and files are copied from the
source and destination folder and the
copy rules applied in the process.
Copy Operation
In a copy operation, all the files and folders in the
source and destination folders are processed on the basis of the
profile properties.
Copy Preview
A copy preview causes the contents of the
source and destination folder to be read and rendered in the
report along with the file and folder actions to be performed.
Process Copy Preview
This causes all the
actions of files and folders indicated in the
report to be performed.
Profiles
All the
settings required for a copy operation between the
source and destination folders are stored by AllSync in a
profile.
Profile Properties
Profile properties comprise all the settings for a copy operation between two
folders.
Profile List
The
profile list contains all of the profiles set up by you and enables them to be sorted in various folders according to project.
Source and Destination Folders
The
source and destination folders designate the folders between which a copy operation is to be performed.
Report Window
The file and folder actions are rendered in the
report window in a convenient easy-to-read manner.
Operation (Copy Processes)
An operation refers to a copy operation (copying), copy preview or the processing of a copy preview.
